Become a Host Family
Would you like to open your home and your family to the experience of hosting an international student?
Sharing your culture and values with an overseas student is a wonderful opportunity to learn about theirs. QuickGalway has invited families to welcome international students into their Irish homes since 2016.
With the assistance of a team of local coordinators and staff members, host families assist students in making friendships, learning up the language, and having a good time during their time overseas. Families can strengthen their bonds and form enduring friendships by sharing their culture and customs.
What do the students need to experience?
Students aren't supposed to be the family's live-in babysitter, au pair, or housekeeper. They desire to be regarded as an involved family member. They ought to have tasks and duties including helping with mealtimes, cleaning their own room, and doing the washing up. Some pupils from foreign cultures may find this difficult, although adaption is typically swift with diligence and patience.
What type of families are we looking for?
There is no 'typical' host family; all kinds of families are welcome to apply. Our Host Families are varied, multi-ethnic and multicultural just like the citizens who live in Ireland. Students can stay with both traditional Irish families and those of other nationalities or, again, single women or men, at different stages of their life, who make rooms in their home available simply for the pleasure of hosting international students and relating to new cultures, a typical element of the spirit that is lived in Ireland.
